How to get to Lao Cai
From Hanoi, it is located on the opposite side of Do Son, which I reported on previously, and is a city on the border with China. You can access it by taking an express bus from Hanoi’s bus terminal, Bến Xe Mỹ Đình. When I went there, I was travelling in a bus where I could lie down in the seat, and it was comfortable.

Before the play
Lao Cai is like a brothel district, and there were about 20 ladies in the area when I went. Unlike Do Son, the ladies don’t move around on bikes, but sit on chairs in front of the shops or lie down inside the shops while waiting for customers. One thing to note is that at around 6-7pm, all the shops seem to eat dinner at the same time, and the ladies are eating too, so there were very few ladies available at this time.
The number of ladies is lower than Do Son, but I remember that the average level was higher here. The atmosphere was similar to Koza Yoshiwara, Okinawa’s redlight district.
